Letter to John Barton Rogers, 1862 October 23.

Davis writes regarding the death of Major Savage, a Union prisoner of war at the University hospital and the brother-in-law of Rogers. He describes the last days of Savage and the care given to him by himself and Dr. James L. Cabell, informs Rogers that Thomas Jefferson Randolph has taken charge of the remains and burial, sends the love of Mrs. McIntire who nursed Savage, and notes that he will retain his belongings.
